Doppelsticke means... Well, it's a bit complicated. Being a traditional German, but rebellious German style (can you imagine something like that?) this style couldn't possibly go by unnoticed craft brewers. Surely, anything strange and unusual always draws attention. So imagine a beer top-fermented lager-stored beer. That's it, thats altbier. So, story goest that "sticke" means "secret" in local German dialect, meaning the beer was stored for brewers personal consumption. "Doppel" means "double", so it's twice as guarded secret.
