Once, on April Fools' Day, we joked on social media that we would make beer with black soil and beets. The joke received such a warm response from you, friends, that we finally brewed it. We used local farm beets, fermented pears, and peat malt. The result is a rather interesting stout with hints of smoke and a slight sweetness that is balanced by coffee bitterness from the dark malt.
